Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

In 2024, Beeac Primary School commenced a sponsored partnership with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation (SAKGF).

As a school we are actively working alongside Hesse Rural Health and Healthy Kids (Colac Otway Shire) to provide students with learning that is hands -on and has a strong curriculum focus on student wellbeing, collaboration and leadership.

By allowing children to experience the widest possible range of delicious, fresh foods necessary to build healthy bodies, children will be equipped to make better food choices for the rest of their lives. As children are shown how to grow and care for fresh food and how to prepare and cook it, they will be an informed consumer, committed to sound sustainable growing practices and have developed valuable life enhancing skills.

Students learn to plant, grow, harvest, prepare, cook and share fresh, nutritious, seasonal and delicious food.

Students are given all the skills, experiences, and role modelling to learn the entire process ‘From plant to plate’ and make healthier choices about what to cook and eat, for life.
